Concussion Rehab
A concussion is a traumatic brain injury caused when the brain is jarred or shaken within the skull. Concussions can happen in a variety of settings, most commonly from sports injuries, falls and auto accidents. Concussions can produce headaches, mood changes, loss of focus, neck pain, nausea and dizziness. Most people will recover fully with rest and proper treatment, but concussion symptoms can last for days, weeks or even months. Physical therapy can help patients who experience these symptoms and speed up recovery.
Treatment may include:
- Balance training
- Postural education
- Gaze stabilization exercise/training
- Manual therapy for neck pain to address soft tissue injury
- Core strengthening
- Aerobic conditioning
- Neuromuscular re-education
- Home program education
- Sports conditioning
